Somerset Foundation Trust has partnered with Alliance Medical for its Taunton Diagnostic Centre. The previous private partner, Rutherford Health, went into liquidation in June 2022.
The centre only opened in 2021 and was hailed as a “game-changer” by the trust. The centre is credited with helping to reduce waiting times for patients’ diagnostic results, with the number of patients waiting longer than six weeks (the national target) dropping from 45.8 per cent last September to 22.8 per cent this July. Alliance Medical will start running the Taunton Diagnostic Centre on 1 November, the trust said.
