HSJ reports that the private provider of autism services, Midlands Psychology, in Staffordshire has sent emails to parents cancelling new patients’ appointments ahead of its contract expiring on 30 September. The chief executive of Midlands Psychology said the social enterprise company was only told on 30 August that its contract would not be extended.
The local CCG said the provider was responsible until the end of the month for provision of services; a new interim provider is expected to be in place by then. The company, however, has stated that it would be wrong to bring any new families in to begin assessment over the last few days of September, because they would then have to start from the beginning again with the new provider.
