Synlab has been announced as the preferred bidder for a 15 year pathology contract worth £2.25 billion covering a large part of central and south London. The German company has beaten HSL and the current provider Viapath to get the contract which provides services to Guy’s and King’s FT, South London and Maudsley FT, Oxleas FT and the Royal Brompton and Harefield FT.
Viapath, a company owned jointly by Guy’s and St Thomas’ FT, King’s College Hospital FT and the private company Serco, has provided pathology services since 2009. HSL is the pathology company jointly owned by Royal Free London FT, University College London FT and Australian company TDL.
