The FT reports that Serco has won the most Covid-related government contracts among UK-listed outsourcers. The research by the data provider Tussell shows that the large outsourcing groups, including Serco, Capita, G4S, Mears, Interserve and Mitie, won significant work on the emergency Nightingale hospitals and providing Covid testing, but ended up with a small share of contracts overall.
Overall the six companies have been awarded 127 contracts and £1.3bn of work since February 1. But only seven of these were Covid-specific contracts, with a combined value of £205m.
